AHEDIS Training – Konstanz: Artificial Intelligence in Medicine: AI Foundations and Healthcare Digitalization

As part of the AHEDIS project, a five-day training programme will be organised at HTWG Konstanz, Germany, focusing on Artificial Intelligence (AI) in medicine and healthcare digitalization. The training aims to provide healthcare professionals with fundamental knowledge of AI technologies, their practical applications, and the opportunities and challenges associated with digital transformation in healthcare. The programme will begin with an introduction to digital medicine, highlighting the role of digital technologies in improving healthcare services and clinical processes. Participants will explore different types of healthcare data, digital infrastructures, and the use of Electronic Health Records (EHRs) in clinical practice. Special attention will be given to the foundations of AI, including supervised and unsupervised learning, algorithms, and basic model development. The training will also address AI applications across medical specialties, including diagnostics, treatment, predictive and personalized medicine, and telemedicine. Through practical workshops, participants will gain hands-on experience in cleaning, analysing, and working with real-world healthcare datasets. The final sessions will focus on ethical considerations, data privacy, algorithmic bias, fairness, and regulatory frameworks governing the use of AI in healthcare. The programme will combine lectures, expert presentations, interactive discussions, and practical exercises, providing approximately 30 hours of training. The expected outcome is improved digital and AI literacy among healthcare professionals, strengthening their ability to critically evaluate and responsibly apply AI technologies in clinical practice and healthcare digitalization.
