AHEDIS Project Presented at the CROSCIENCE 2026 Conference in Zagreb
The CROSCIENCE 2026 conference was held in Zagreb on September 24 and 25, 2026, aiming to connect Croatian scientists from the country and abroad, across different generations and scientific disciplines. The second day of the gathering took place at the University of Zagreb School of Medicine in Šalata, hosted by the Dean of the Faculty, prof. dr. Slavko Orešković. The CROSCIENCE initiative was launched in 2024 with three long-term goals: connecting scientists working in Croatia with their colleagues abroad, strengthening collaboration between senior and early-career researchers to foster high-quality mentorship, and bringing together researchers from diverse fields into interdisciplinary teams. This year’s two-day program focused on establishing new collaborations, exchanging knowledge and experience, and reinforcing science’s contribution to the development of Croatian society and the economy. The program featured seven thematic sessions addressing key scientific challenges: support for early-career researchers, new scientific horizons, science funding in Croatia, science in the media and public discourse, the societal benefits of science, science industry
collaboration, and launching biotechnology start-ups. Prominent scientists and experts from Croatia and abroad discussed current research, scientific career development, and opportunities for bridging science and the business sector. Particular emphasis was placed on integrating early-career researchers into international research networks and facilitating intergenerational knowledge transfer. As part of the conference, poster presentations of the most compelling ongoing projects from various scientific domains were also held. The AHEDIS project was presented by Prof. Mirza Žižak, representing the University of Zagreb School of Medicine, the Zagreb-based partner in the project consortium. The poster’s well-structured content and clear graphic design drew significant interest from attendees, sparking questions and discussions regarding the project’s objectives, activities, and implementation. It provided a comprehensive overview of the AHEDIS project, outlining its goals, target groups, consortium composition, methodology, and work packages. The poster particularly highlighted the role of the University of Zagreb School of Medicine as a
consortium partner, showcasing its contribution to project tasks and the achievement of shared goals. Presenting the expected outcomes and planned impact further conveyed the project’s purpose and relevance to the audience.
Presenting AHEDIS at CROSCIENCE 2026 served as an excellent opportunity to raise the project’s visibility within the broader scientific community and to exchange ideas with researchers from various fields. The poster discussions enabled direct peer-to-peer exchanges, inspiring interested participants with ideas on how the solutions developed within the AHEDIS project could be applied to enhance their own educational initiatives.
