AHEDIS Project Officially Launched
On November 26, 2025, the kick-off meeting for the AHEDIS project was successfully held in Sarajevo. Hosted by the University of Sarajevo (UNSA) at the Europe House, the event brought together partners from across the Western Balkans and the European Union to officially begin this ambitious initiative.
The meeting brought together representatives from the University of Sarajevo, University of Banja Luka, University of Montenegro, University of Donja Gorica, University of Zagreb, University of Ljubljana, HTWG Konstanz, Verlab Institute, BRAVO (Bosnian Representative Association for Valuable Opportunities), Pharmacies “Sarajevo”, “Dr Miroslav Zotović” Institute, and the Institute for Public Health of Montenegro.
The meeting was formally opened by the Project Coordinator, Prof. Dr. Alisa Elezović, who welcomed all 12 consortium partners to Sarajevo. She emphasized that this meeting serves as the starting point for a strategic shift toward digital innovation in higher education. Welcoming addresses were also delivered by Prof. Dr. Naris Pojskić, Vice-Rector for Research at UNSA, and Prof. Dr. Tanja Dujić, Vice-Dean at the Faculty of Pharmacy, both of whom highlighted the university’s commitment to regional cooperation and sustainable digital development.
Throughout the day, each partner institution presented its expertise and specific role within the project. The session focused on aligning all partners with the project’s work packages, financial rules, and implementation timelines.
Technical deep-dives into the project’s work packages were a central focus, with presentations covering project management, preparatory activities, course development, innovative teaching materials, course implementation, and impact and dissemination.
The Consortium officially adopted the project timeline for the first year, confirmed the Management Board and Work Package Leaders, and reviewed draft strategic plans for communication, dissemination, and long-term sustainability. The meeting concluded with the establishment of coordination and communication protocols, solidifying the operational framework for all twelve partners as they begin the digital transformation of healthcare education in the region.
This first meeting was incredibly productive, setting a clear and ambitious path for the years ahead. By bringing together experts from across the region and Europe, we have established a strong foundation of cooperation and shared goals. We are looking forward to the innovation this initiative will bring to the field of healthcare and are excited to see the positive impact these digital advancements will have on our students, professionals, and the community.
